Five well-structured mining sites and equipment used by illegal miners in the Yanomami Indigenous Land were destroyed by agents of Operation Catrimani II.
The action acts to repress invaders in the territory.
The information was released this Monday (24), in Boa Vista.
Among the equipment destroyed were engines used in gold extraction, power generators and aircraft.
In one of the camps there was even a freezer where supplies from the invaders were stored.
The destruction of the material was carried out by federal agents and the Armed Forces in conjunction with the Government House, created to provide support in confronting the Yanomami crisis.
Started in March under the coordination of the Ministry of Defense, Operation Catrimami II aims to contain illegal mining activities, environmental crimes and transnational illicit activities in the Yanomami Indigenous Land.
The territory has been in a health emergency since January 2023.
