Desperate, Nikolas' mother arrived at the scene, but was unable to save him.

The Fire Department informed that the rescue could only be carried out after registering a police report at the Tabatinga police station.
According to the military, there was no rescue equipment either.
Another difficulty was with recording the bulletin that is issued at the police station.
The victim's family even tried to file a police report, but the civil body informed that the service could only be provided in the afternoon.
Nikolas' body was recovered by a volunteer diver using improvised equipment.
