AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - An Azul Linhas Aéreas aircraft flying from Manaus to Tabatinga was forced to make an emergency landing at Eduardo Gomes International Airport on Tuesday afternoon (14) after colliding with birds shortly after takeoff. The plane landed safely, and no injuries were reported.
According to a statement from the airline, flight AD2683 returned to the airport as a preventive measure and requested priority landing.
Azul said the aircraft will undergo a technical inspection before returning to service, and that passengers were rebooked on another flight. The company apologized for the inconvenience and emphasized that the decision was made to ensure operational safety.
In a separate statement, the airport administration confirmed that the emergency response team was activated to assist with the landing procedure and provide support to the aircraft. According to the airport, the plane was monitored throughout its return and landed without damage or injuries.
After the landing, the runway was inspected and cleared for normal operations. The cause of the incident will be investigated by aviation authorities.
