A landslide opened a crater on the coast of the municipality of Manacapuru, in the Metropolitan Region of Manaus, and swallowed up part of the Terra Preta Port on Monday afternoon (7).
Teams with divers and firefighters from Manaus are in the region carrying out rescue work for victims.
A 6-year-old child is missing.
Her house was swept away by the landslide from a ravine near the port.
According to the family, she was with two older brothers, who managed to escape.
According to the city government of Manacapuru, in addition to the child, three other people are still missing.
Also according to the city government, there were nine injured, of which seven remain hospitalized at the Lázaro Reis Regional Hospital.
The National Department of Transportation Infrastructure (DNIT), responsible for the waterway station near the accident, closed the area.
A team of technicians is coming from Brasília to conduct a geological analysis of the terrain and also the impact on the port structure.
The Brazilian Navy will open an investigation to investigate the accident.
The State Civil Defense says that it is not yet possible to confirm that the collapse of the port was caused by the phenomenon of fallen earth,
which occurs during the dry season in the Amazon region.
Manacapuru is 68 kilometers from the capital, on the banks of the Solimões River.
