RORAIMA, BRAZIL - Roraima's population grew by 3.07% in one year, reaching 738,772 residents, according to a new estimate released on Thursday (28) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The state recorded the highest population growth rate in Brazil in 2025, largely driven by the influx of Venezuelan migrants.

The data reflects the population count as of July 1, 2025. Compared to the previous year, the state added 21,979 new residents. In the last estimate, released in 2024, Roraima had 716,793 inhabitants.

Since 2015, Roraima has served as the main entry point for Venezuelans seeking better living conditions in Brazil. Over one million people have crossed the border since the beginning of the migration wave, and more than half have remained in the country, drawn by Brazil’s policies of reception and resettlement.

According to the figures, the state capital, Boa Vista, remains the most populous city in Roraima, registering the highest growth rate among Brazilian state capitals.
