MANAUS, BRAZIL — A sloth was spotted by residents walking along a sidewalk in front of a health clinic in the municipality of Manacapuru, in Brazil’s Amazonas state, on Friday night (27). The animal moved along the street before climbing onto a parked motorcycle.
Residents avoided touching the animal and called the Fire Department to carry out the rescue. The brown-throated sloth briefly resisted leaving the vehicle but was safely removed using standard handling techniques.
The animal was transported in the back of a rescue vehicle to a forested area in the municipality, where it was released back into its natural habitat.
