Operation Catrimani II, coordinated by the Armed Forces, arrested three illegal miners and seized ammunition, a generator and even a submachine gun inside the Yanomami Indigenous Land, in Roraima.
The arrests took place in the Mucuim region, an area with signs of illegal mining, between May 27th and 28th.
During the operation, soldiers seized a submachine gun, a shotgun, a pistol and a revolver, as well as ammunition for each of the weapons.
Radio transmitters and a ballistic vest were also seized.
In the action, they also destroyed a boat with an engine, a generator and materials used in the camp and in illegal activity.
The objective of the mission is to prevent and repress cross-border crimes, related to illegal mining, which threaten indigenous people and the territory.
