AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - A heavy rainstorm hit Manaus on Tuesday (14), flooding several parts of the city. Due to the intensity of the rainfall, the Amazonas Civil Defense issued an alert covering all zones of the capital.
Major streets experienced flooding, making it difficult for vehicles to move through the waterlogged areas.
A tree was knocked down by strong winds near the Amazonas Theater, one of Manaus’s main landmarks. Public buildings, including schools, a maternity hospital, and markets, were also affected.
Residents in some neighborhoods reported power outages during the storm. The local utility company said that the severe weather—marked by heavy rain, lightning, and strong wind gusts—had interrupted electricity supply in several districts.
The Manaus City Hall stated that the City Cooperation Center (CCC) responded to numerous emergency calls during the storm. All reported incidents were handled, and residents received guidance from municipal teams.
Despite the disruptions caused by the downpour, no deaths or injuries were reported.
