The last confirmed occurrence was in February, and so far there have been no other notifications, says the state's Health Surveillance Foundation (FVS-AM).
On Wednesday (14), the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the disease is, once again, a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
The organization's highest alert level had been declared for the outbreak of "monkeypox", as the disease was then known, at the end of July 2022.
It was only in May 2023 that the organization decided to downgrade its status, due to the global decrease in the number of cases (as also happened with Covid).
Despite the stability of cases in Amazonas, the FVS released, on Friday (16), a note with clarifications about the disease, for the general population and health professionals.
The Foundation recommends strengthening surveillance actions in Amazonas as a preventive measure in light of the international public health emergency scenario.
The FVS also highlights that vaccination is an effective protective measure, especially for groups determined by the Ministry of Health.
