BORBA-AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - A vessel transporting barges collided with the port of the municipality of Borba, in the interior of Amazonas, on the afternoon of this Sunday (23).
The moment of the accident, which caused serious damage to the port structure, was filmed by a person who was at the scene.
In the images, it is possible to see that the vessel hits a large metal structure consisting of a bridge, which connects the waterfront.
After the impact, the vessel drags the structure, which ended up giving way from its original position and detached from the waterfront, staying close to the bank of the Madeira River.
The boat that caused the collision was intercepted by authorities and a report was filed to investigate the facts.
The document was sent to the Harbor Master's Office, responsible for navigation on the rivers of the Amazon.
The National Department of Transport Infrastructure - DNIT stated that the port is closed for analysis and repairs.
