The chestnut is the seed of a huge chestnut tree found in the Amazon rainforest in northern Brazil. This oilseed with its rich nutritional power is well known for its numerous health benefits, as well as being the basis for a multitude of dishes and recipes. One of the main benefits of the Brazil nut, popularly known as the chestnut of Pará, is that it is one of the main sources of Selenium, a mineral that is fundamental for the proper functioning of the central nervous system, preventing the onset of diseases such as Alzheimer's. It also contains Vitamins and vitamins. The seed also contains Vitamins A and E, which help produce collagen and improve eye health. Minerals such as zinc and selenium also play an important role in the proper functioning of the thyroid, which is responsible for producing hormones that are very important for the human body. Another benefit is its contribution to cancer prevention, as it has antioxidant properties capable of neutralising free radicals. Heart health also benefits: the Brazil or Pará chestnut helps to reduce triglyceride levels, controlling blood pressure and bad cholesterol.
