Products extracted from the Amazon forest by sustainability entrepreneurs, such as those who work with handicrafts, are beginning to gain market share and transform the routine and livelihood of indigenous people in Amazonas.
An example of this is at the Adolpho Lisboa Municipal Market, in the center of Manaus, where you can find ornaments, baskets with indigenous features, jewelry and local crafts. These are unique and personalized products.
They are part of a production chain that transforms the routine of those who harvest the raw materials, those who produce the crafts and also those who sell the products. It is also possible to find clothing items such as cords and bracelets with açaí seeds.
Small businesses account for 95% of formal enterprises in Brazil. In Amazonas there are around 163 thousand individual microentrepreneurs.
