The pilot of the twin-engine plane that made a forced landing in an area of the city of Rondolândia in the state of Mato Grosso, after being intercepted by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) on Wednesday morning (10), was arrested in an action by the Federal, Military and Civil police. According to the Federal Police, the pilot was arrested near the city of Cacoal, in the state of Rondônia, after holding up an ambulance driver and forcing him to drive. The suspect was arrested red-handed for kidnapping, disobedience and usurpation of federal property, among other offences. After being captured, the pilot was handed over to the Federal Police (PF) and taken to the city of Ji-Paraná for legal proceedings. The aircraft, suspected of carrying drugs, left Bolivia and was identified near Rondônia. Two A-29 Super Tucano air defence planes were called in to intercept the aircraft at around 13:30. The pilot was told to change course and make a mandatory landing in Cacoal (RO). After failing to comply with the order, a warning shot was fired. The plane then made a forced landing in difficult terrain near the municipality of Rondolândia. The aircraft, a Seneca model, registration PT-RQY, was not authorised to fly because its airworthiness certificate had expired, according to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
