The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and the Federal Police (PF) intercepted, this Sunday (2), an aircraft coming from Peru that was transporting drugs in Brazilian airspace.
The operation took place in Amazonas, about 80 km from Manaus, on a dirt runway.
The aircraft, a model EMB-810 Seneca, registration PT-RFU, was detected by the radars of the Brazilian Aerospace Defense System (SISDABRA).
The defense used A-29 Super Tucano, E-99 and H-60 Black Hawk aircraft, in addition to orbital platforms to obtain intelligence information to intercept the clandestine plane.
The interception occurred around 10 am (Brasília time) and followed the protocols established by the Airspace Policing Measures (MPEA).
After being ordered to make a mandatory landing, the pilot made a forced landing, crashing into trees on the ground.
Shortly after, the pilots set the aircraft on fire and fled.
The Federal Police (PF) believe that 500 kg of drugs were destroyed in the fire.
The operation was part of Operation Ostium, integrated into the Integrated Border Protection Program (PPIF), with the objective of combating criminal activities on the border.
