Around 300 Venezuelans participated in a demonstration in the municipality of Pacaraima, in opposition to the re-election of Nicolás Maduro.
The protest took place on Sunday afternoon (28), the day of the election for the president of Venezuela.
Pacaraima is on the border between Brazil and the neighboring country.
The act was at the point where the flags of the two countries share space.
The migrants took over the site peacefully.
With shouts and slogans they called for the downfall of current president Nicolas Maduro, calling him a “dictator”.
The Bolivarian National Guard, one of the pillars of the Venezuelan Armed Forces, accompanied the protest.
On the Brazilian side, a garrison of the Roraima Military Police was also on site.
To vote in the presidential elections, migrants who live in Pacaraima crossed on foot and even via clandestine routes.
In Brazil, the only place where Venezuelans could vote remotely would be the Venezuelan embassy, ​​in the Federal District, however, this is an unfeasible trip for most migrants.
In Boa Vista, capital of Roraima, migrants also took to the streets against Maduro.
On Sunday night, a crowd took over Avenida Castelo Branco, in the São Vicente neighborhood.
The Military Police monitored the event, which remained peaceful until 7:50 pm local time.
