The main feature of the Anavilhanas National Park are the permanent river islands that form the second largest river archipelago in the world, with a composition of rare dimensions that changes completely according to the water level. The archipelago has approximately 400 islands, 60 lakes and dozens of paranás (river channels) and furos (narrow paths that cross the igapós), forming an enchanting labyrinth that can be appreciated from various perspectives: aerial, on board, day and night. The Anavilhanas Archipelago is located 100 kilometres from Manaus, near the town of Novo Airão, on the Rio Negro.
