The ribeirinhos live on the banks of rivers, igarapés, igapós and lakes and their lives are directed by the seasonality of the water. In the Amazon, the ribeirinho people have a strong relationship with the river cycle. Despite this, they also survive by farming, hunting and extractivism. In the Amazon environment, they are able to survive by extracting açaí, buriti and other fruit trees that are available in the region, as well as by fishing, as we know there are a large number of rivers and a wide variety of fish in the Amazon.
