Researchers are mapping a network of caves discovered in the Amazon. And the studies show that it seems that the tunnels of more than three metres were built by animals thousands of years ago. They found a cave at a site 250 kilometres from Porto Velho, in the district of Vista Alegre do Abunã. The structure, called a palaeocave, is the first to be found in the Amazon. Studies suggest that it was created by giant sloths. To find evidence of which species dug these structures, professionals from the Geological Survey of Brazil mapped the tunnels.
