More than 110,000 Venezuelans have already gone through this process, according to the Federal Committee for Reception and Interiorisation. Many families came from the neighbouring country fleeing the economic crisis in search of a better life on Brazilian soil. Most of the refugees prefer to move to the south of the country, to states such as Santa Catarina and Paraná, while others decide to stay in the city of Boa Vista. In Brazil, the migrants receive training courses in order to be placed on the labour market. Every day, around 400 Venezuelans apply for refuge through the operation in Pacaraima, along the BR-174 motorway, which is on the border between the two countries.
