The only source of water that supplies the population of the capital of Roraima is getting lower and lower. The Branco River, which passes in front of the city, has sandbanks as a result of the severe drought at this time of year in the state. The level reached 0.89 metres, well below the average of 2.81 metres. The state's Civil Defence and Fire Brigade are monitoring the situation. The heavy rains in recent weeks have eased the situation and the Branco River has reached 1.48 metres, below average.
