Approximately three tonnes of drugs, including marijuana and cocaine, weapons and a speedboat were seized during a police operation in the interior of Amazonas. The operation took place at a ranch in the Bom Jardim community, located at KM 240 on the AM-010 motorway, between the cities of Rio Preto da Eva and Itacoatiara. According to the police, investigations began 10 months ago and revealed that the site was used as a warehouse by drug traffickers. The two owners of the site, along with a Colombian, were arrested. According to the police, the owners of the site received the drugs from Colombians who arrived in speedboats with heavy weapons. After arranging the logistics for the foreigners' return, the Brazilians stored the narcotics and delivered them in instalments to truck drivers who brought the illicit material to Manaus by land. All were charged with the crimes of drug trafficking, association with drug trafficking, criminal organisation and illegal possession of a restricted firearm.
