Created to bring the National Institute for Amazon Research (Inpa/MCTI) closer to the surrounding communities, the Science Forest celebrated its 29th anniversary on April 1st. The site is a benchmark in Manaus as an educational space for popularising science, as well as an outstanding tourist attraction. In 2023, there were 122,000 visitors from Brazil and abroad. A special programme will take place from 2 to 5 April in the park itself, a 13-hectare green area in the heart of the Amazonian capital. There will be around 20 activities on offer to the public, including guided tours, exhibitions, workshops, games and the launch of educational booklets. For Inpa's management, the Forest is an institutional showcase and has become a true urban theme park, protecting a forest fragment and providing visitors with contact with nature and an opportunity for scientific education.
