The level of the Negro and Amazon rivers has already started to fall.
And with the low water period in the Amazon region, the State Civil Defense has already started work to prevent a likely extreme drought.
According to the secretary, Colonel Francisco Máximo, everything indicates that in 2024 the drought will be even more severe than last year.
"The forecasts point to a very severe drought", said Francisco Máximo.
"Fifty municipalities depend on fuel," said the colonel.
"If there is not enough storage to support the critical period, and with rivers impassable, cities could experience blackouts", mentioned Máximo.
"Our concern is with the most vulnerable people and especially with riverside residents", said the Secretary of State Civil Defense.
"We have more than 4,500 riverside communities spread across the state, we are talking about more than 700 thousand people living in these areas" commented Máximo.
"We have no road or connection with these people, most of them don't even have communication," reported the colonel.
"It's not just food, drinking water is life, so storing the liquid wherever you can will be very important", concluded Colonel Francisco Máximo.
