Amazonas has reported 46 cases of the Monkeypox virus, of which 7 were confirmed in 2024.
It is more common among men aged 30 to 49.
No deaths have been recorded due to the disease.

"The lesions begin as a papule, a small bump, and when the virus creates a water blister.
This water blister will evolve and it will turn into a scab, and this scab will fall off.
And when the lesion is in this process until the scab falls off, that is the period of transmissibility.
During this period, the individual can transmit this disease to another person.
How? Through person-to-person contact or through contact of an object infected with the virus with a susceptible person," explained Dr. Eda Cristina da Silva Chagas, an infectious disease specialist at the Tropical Medicine Foundation.

Those diagnosed with the virus are undergoing treatment.
The Ministry of Health has determined the clinical condition and the target audience for the vaccine.
Today, those who can receive the dose are those living with HIV/AIDS, with a CD4 count below 200.
These are the individuals at greatest risk of developing serious illness.
Amazonas has a specialized laboratory for diagnosing the disease.

"It is recommended that patients diagnosed with Monkeypox have a different flow of care.
They will not go to the regular waiting room; they will be given a mask.
If they have many lesions on their body, they will have to be given an apron as a way of creating a barrier.
With the guidance of isolation for 21 days", concluded infectious disease specialist Eda Cristina.

In 2022, 183 cases were reported, of which only 110 were confirmed.
Last year, the disease lost its public health emergency status due to the low number of cases.
There were also no deaths recorded during this period.
