MAZONAS, BRAZIL - Two ferries en route to the municipality of Careiro da Várzea, located in the interior of Amazonas state, collided near the famous Meeting of the Waters — the confluence of the Negro and Solimões Rivers.
The collision was captured by several passengers aboard both vessels. Although the incident caused alarm, no injuries were reported. The ferries sustained material damage, as did some of the vehicles being transported.
The impact was relatively minor and did not result in any water pollution. The Brazilian Navy has announced it will open an investigation to determine the causes, circumstances, and responsible parties.
