AMAZONAS, BRAZIL - An unidentified young man was swallowed by a hole that suddenly opened in a sidewalk during his walk. The incident occurred on Thursday (9) in the western zone of Manaus.

A surveillance camera captured the exact moment of the fall. The pedestrian was helped by motorcyclists and sustained only minor scratches on his arms.

According to local residents, the opening was caused by a sewage leak from a nearby house.

Reports indicate that a leaking inspection chamber had soaked the ground. As water accumulated, the soil gave way, creating the hole just as students were leaving a nearby school.

The City Hall said maintenance crews are replacing the old pipes with newer, more resistant ones to ensure the efficiency of the drainage system.

The area has been cordoned off to prevent further incidents.
