MANAUS, BRAZIL — The government of Amazonas state officially launched the 59th Parintins Folklore Festival on Friday (March 13) during a ceremony held at the Teatro Amazonas in Manaus. The event brought together official performers and supporters of the Caprichoso (blue) and Garantido (red) folk ox teams, marking the start of the 2026 festival season.
During the ceremony, officials also announced the signing of a sponsorship agreement for the event. A similar launch ceremony is scheduled to take place in the city of Parintins next Friday (March 20).
In 2026, the Caprichoso team will present the theme “Caprichoso: The Toy That Sings Its Land.” The concept transforms the passion for Caprichoso into artistic expression and culture while celebrating the ox as a symbol of Amazonian identity and the pride of Parintins.
The Garantido team has chosen the theme “Parintins: Portal of Enchantment.” The association promises to take audiences on a magical journey through the so-called Enchanted Island, celebrating ancestry, percussion rhythms and traditional enchantments.
The Parintins Folklore Festival will take place on June 26, 27 and 28, the last weekend of the month. The island, often referred to as the “Island of Magic,” attracts thousands of visitors from across Brazil and abroad.
