Emotion swept through the streets of Parintins as Boi Garantido and its red-clad supporters celebrated another edition of the traditional “Alvorada.” According to the group’s organizers, the event drew more than 35,000 people and continued until dawn.

Originally created to announce rehearsals for Boi Garantido, the Alvorada has grown into a cultural heritage event of Amazonas. Along the roughly 3-kilometer route, supporters sang traditional “toadas” and paraded the ox through the city.

A local resident described the experience as “a unique feeling.”
“There’s no explanation. The feeling we have for Garantido comes from within, from the soul. It’s a contagious emotion.”
