PARINTINS, BRAZIL - Caprichoso was crowned champion of the 59th Parintins Folklore Festival after the official results were announced Monday afternoon (June 29) at the Bumbódromo arena in Parintins.
Performing under the theme "Toy That Sings Its Land," the blue-and-white team secured the 27th championship in its history. Caprichoso tied in the first night of competition before winning the remaining two nights.
At the end of the judging, Caprichoso finished with 1,259.0 points, narrowly defeating Garantido, which scored 1,258.3. Judges evaluated 21 competitive categories, including presenter, cunhã-poranga (female Indigenous warrior), floats, Indigenous ritual and overall performance.
The 2026 Parintins Folklore Festival took place from June 26 to 28 and drew thousands of spectators to the island. Over three nights, Caprichoso and Garantido staged elaborate performances featuring music, dance, giant floats, Amazonian legends, and Indigenous and Afro-Brazilian cultural traditions in their bid for the championship.
