The Civil Defense of Amazonas works to minimize the impacts of a drought that could be even greater than that of 2023.
"Our concern now is to work precisely so that the impacts of a severe drought, regardless of whether it is close to or greater than last year's, are reduced" declared the state secretary of Civil Defense, Colonel Francisco Máximo.
"For example, we have very strong work, at federal and state level, involving electricity companies, because we are still dependent on 50 municipalities that are powered by diesel thermoelectric plants" reported Francisco Máximo.
"There is preventive work that will ensure that these municipalities are not deprived" stated the state secretary of Civil Defense.
"And so we are replicating it for water, communications and health services" concluded the colonel.
