MANAUS, BRAZIL - During a visit to Amazonas state, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva commented on the energy transition in an interview with Rede Amazônica Group on Wednesday (27). Lula said the world will need to undergo this transformation.
According to the president, Brazil will be in an enviable position to attract international investment.
“There is no country in the world capable of competing with Brazil in this energy transition that will take place globally and that the world needs. In fact, many important countries that want data centers know that the place where they can obtain affordable energy is Brazil.
If they want to come here to build their data centers, they are welcome, but they must understand that they will need to generate their own energy. They will not use the energy we have for the Brazilian people to operate data centers. They must use energy that they produce themselves for data centers, because we cannot allow people to come here, make money transmitting information about other countries, while Brazil gains nothing from it.
But Brazil has enormous potential. That is why the Chinese are already building one in Ceará, in Fortaleza. That is why American companies want to come here.
That is why Indian companies also want to come here. And we will make Brazil become an enviable option for foreign investment here,” Lula said.
