The motorway linking the states of Roraima and Amazonas to the rest of Brazil has been impassable for many years due to a lack of maintenance. The images show what the road looks like at the moment. Because of this, parliamentarians, governors and society are waging a real battle for the road to be paved and restructured. The bureaucratic impasse lies in the environmental licences issued by Ibama. The institute says it is necessary to have detailed studies for the feasibility of the works and, above all, for the preservation of the forest, where the motorway crosses. A working group formed by the Ministry of Transport is tasked with finding solutions and resolving the problem that has persisted for years.
