The Regulatory Agency for Delegated and Contracted Public Services of Amazonas (Arsepam) is intensifying inspections of passenger vessels that navigate the state's rivers. Mainly, for those who go to Tupinambarana Island, with the intention of seeing the Parintins Folklore Festival. The trips to the island of magic have already started and Arsepam is checking the documentation and necessary items that each vessel needs to have navigability authorization according to the Brazilian Navy. The Regulatory Agency checks, for example: operational schemes, passenger safety items, documents indicating the capacity of the vessel, and authorization from the Navy. According to Arsepam, in 2023, in the period from June 20th to July 3rd, more than 59 thousand passengers embarked on this route. The expectation is that this year the number will be even higher. According to the Amazonas Tourism Agency (Amazonastur), Parintins is expected to receive more than 120,000 visitors during the 2024 Folklore Festival. Arsepam also warns travelers to be careful not to embark on clandestine transport.
