One of the highlights when talking about tourism in the Amazon is the tour of the 'meeting of the waters' of the Negro and Solimões rivers in Manaus, Amazonas. The waters do not mix and have become famous all over the world. However, the natural phenomenon also happens in other places throughout the Amazon, such as in the region of the city of Santarém, in Pará. The clear but muddy waters of the Solimões form a contrast to the other side, the Negro River, which has a dark colour. The strip stretches for more than six kilometres, which then becomes the Amazon River.
