MANAUS, BRASIL - A joint operation by Brazilian and Peruvian security forces against drug trafficking destroyed three aircraft used to transport narcotics along the border between the two countries. The planes, manufactured and registered in Brazil, were found on a clandestine airstrip located in an Indigenous area in Peruvian territory.

According to authorities, the aircraft originated from the Brazilian states of Pará and Mato Grosso. During the operation, agents also seized chemicals used in the production of cocaine paste, which were immediately destroyed.

The pilots of the aircraft are considered fugitives and remain under investigation.
