In the state of Roraima-Brazil, winter rains in the region marked the beginning of soybean planting for the 2023 crop, and projections are optimistic, according to the state's Brazilian Soybean Producers Association. Sowing began in April and ended in June, and harvesting will take place between August and September. The increase in the planted area is seen as an asset by rural producers and the expectation is that Roraima will reach expressive numbers, as the one registered in the region known as Matopiba, which involves Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia. The main soya producing municipalities in the northern Brazilian state are: Alto Alegre; Amajari; Boa Vista; Bonfim; and Cantá. In 2022, Roraima produced around 208 million kilos of soya, which generated more than $124 million in exports for the state.
