RONDÔNIA, BRAZIL - Fisherman Geovane de Souza Silva rescued a blue-and-yellow macaw chick that had been stranded on the trunk of a dead tree in a flooded area in the state of Rondônia, in the Brazilian Amazon. The incident drew praise for the fisherman’s actions and also sparked discussions about the importance of wildlife preservation and proper care during animal rescue operations.

According to the fisherman, the bird was found clinging to a dead tree surrounded by water. To avoid injuring the animal and reduce the risk of stress, Geovane used a canoe paddle to carefully guide the chick toward the boat without direct or abrupt contact.

After the rescue, the fisherman managed to return the macaw to the hollow section of the trunk where the nest was believed to be located. The maneuver required caution due to the proximity of the water and the difficulty of positioning the canoe in the area.

Two days later, Geovane returned to the region to check on the animal’s condition. According to him, the chick remained safe, dry and sheltered in the same location.
