PALMAS, BRAZIL - A video recorded by cyclist Hermann Póvoa on trails in the rural area of Dianópolis, in southeastern Tocantins state, has been gaining attention and captivating social media users in recent days. Using a night-vision camera installed at strategic locations, he has been able to capture the movement of wild animals that are rarely seen during daylight hours.
The footage shows wild boars, big cats, foxes and deer passing through the same location at different times. In the video, Hermann explains that he leaves the equipment in the forest and returns four days later to review what has been recorded.
According to Hermann’s posts, the initiative, carried out in partnership with friends, arose from a desire to discover which species roam the region while cyclists are away from the trails. After four days of monitoring at one of the sites, the images revealed a diverse and well-preserved wildlife population.
“Dianópolis has very rich wildlife. During my bike rides along these trails, I have already spotted everything from pumas to maned wolves,” Hermann said.
Social media users also highlighted the importance of protecting the biome.
