TOCANTINS, BRAZIL — A crystal-clear river surrounded by nature and freely accessible to the public has become an attraction in Goiatins, in northern Tocantins. The site is about 25 kilometers from the city, along the road to Campos Lindos, and has pools used for swimming.
Programmer Márcio, 34, recorded the video during a visit to the site on Sept. 15. According to him, the area is usually busy on weekends and holidays but was nearly empty on the Tuesday when he recorded the footage.
The access point is on the right side of the highway, near a sign for João da Neli restaurant. After about 500 meters of dirt road, visitors reach the pools, which are located within a reserve area of a eucalyptus plantation.
The site also has areas used for camping and food preparation. Despite free access, it faces problems with litter and markings made by visitors on the rocks, which, according to Márcio, contribute to the deterioration and alteration of the pools.
In the video, he asks visitors not to leave litter behind and to help preserve the site.
