The epidemiological scenario of dengue fever has put Manaus on alert, according to the Municipal Health Department (Semsa). Cases of the disease have more than doubled in the city. According to the Ministry of Health's Monitoring Panel, the capital of Amazonas has 2,703 probable cases of the disease. As of Tuesday, Amazonas had reported 4,391 cases of the disease. Of these, 1,136 have been confirmed and another 3,255 are under investigation according to the Ministry of Health's monitoring of the disease. In the period from 1 to 25 January 2024, Amazonas registered 3,934 cases of the disease, according to the FVS-AM epidemiological bulletin released last week. The figure shows an increase of 38 per cent compared to the entire month of January 2023, when the state confirmed 2,860 cases of the disease. The number of deaths under investigation for dengue fever in Amazonas rose to three on Tuesday (6), according to data released by the Ministry of Health. One death was recorded in Manaus, the state capital. Two other deaths in Labrea and Coari were already being investigated by the Ministry of Health on suspicion of having been caused by dengue.
