Bird found in the Brazilian Amazon and in coastal rivers bordered by forests in the East of the country, originally reaching Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and the interior of Paraná.

Also found from Panama to Paraguay and Argentina. It feeds on fruits, seeds, leaves, insects and small vertebrates.
