President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said in his speech to the press accompanying the Amazon Summit that he is committed to fighting for the forest, driving drug traffickers, arms dealers and organised crime out of the country.
"We are going to COP28 with the aim of telling the world that it is not enough just to use resources to maintain the forest, but also to take care of the people who live there. In the same way that we are going to fight to guarantee the forest, we are going to fight hard to expel drug traffickers, arms traffickers and organised crime from the forest. This is a task that I am taking on here! " said President Lula.
