Amazon On, which was attended by authorities from several countries and representatives of private companies, also discussed the protection of the biome.
"The objective of this event is to address clean energy, connectivity in the region and applications that can promote the sustainable development of the people who live here. That's what we hope for. And, with that, combat deforestation, combat illegal mining, because the people who live in the Amazon are effectively the ones who protect the forest. So, we need them to explore the biome in a sustainable and profitable way for them too", explained Moisés Moreira, organizer of Amazon On.
“We can't leave this just in the realm of discussion, on paper. We have to put it into practice. That's why it's important for government officials to be present, such as the governor of Amazonas, representatives of regulatory agencies from Peru, other countries, Portugal, and Africa. This involves the world. Therefore, I think that whatever is discussed here and what is feasible, we should already put into practice, effectively, in the region", concluded the organizer of Amazon On, Moisés Moreira.
