Approximately 1.5 tons of illegal fish was seized on a vessel in the municipality of Barcelos, in the interior of Amazonas, last Saturday (4). The fish was inside Styrofoam boxes, according to the Military Police working at the Arpão 2 River Base. Also according to the PM, the fish was found during a routine search of the vessel Maria de Lourdes. In total, 667 kilos of pirarucu and 880 kilos of tucunaré were recorded. After the seizure, the man responsible for the cargo was arrested for an environmental crime and taken to the police station in the municipality of Barcelos. All the seized material was donated to riverside residents in the communities of Moura, Carvoeiro and Panacarica.
