Built in 1899, during the golden age of rubber in Amazonas it was one of the busiest places in Manaus. Located in Rua Bernardo Ramos, in the centre of the capital, the old Hotel Cassina was named after the Italian businessman Andréa Cassina. With the collapse of the state's economy, the building became a boarding house and was soon renamed 'Cabaré Chinelo'. It was closed in 1960 and from then on it was plagued by abandonment and vandalism. The place was revitalised with only its façade preserved. Today it is a business centre and is called Casarão de Inovação Cassina.
