The images show the extent of the dense smoke that once again blanketed Manaus on Wednesday (11). Sensors from the city's Environmental Surveillance System, which measure air quality, indicated that the most critical areas were the west and south of the Amazonas capital. Experts say that the situation has led to Manaus being classified as the third worst city to breathe in the world. The main reason for this is the illegal fires burning close to the city. The hot climate of the period facilitates the spread of forest fires.
