More than 190 kilos of narcotics, including cocaine and cocaine paste, were seized by the Amazonas Military Police (PMAM) during an inspection on the Solimões River. The illicit material was hidden in secret compartments inside some furniture that was being transported on a boat, which was boarded near the municipality of Coari (363 kilometres from Manaus). A narcotics-sniffing dog from the Independent Dog Policing Company (CIPCães) detected the presence of cocaine in the furniture. Three Brazilians suspected of being the owners of all the drugs were arrested red-handed for the offence of drug trafficking. The action was carried out on Sunday night (07/04) by military teams, coordinated by the Amazonas Public Security Secretariat (SSP-AM). The raid took place at around 7pm, during an inspection of the vessel FB Vitória, which had left Tabatinga (1,108 kilometres from Manaus) bound for the capital of Amazonas. In all, the police seized 22 tablets of cocaine, totalling 27.2 kilos of the drug, and 150 tablets of cocaine base paste, which according to an expert report carried out by the Technical-Scientific Police Department (DPTC) totalled 191.70 kilos. The trio arrested were referred to the Civil Police, which is part of the Arpoon Base 1 teams.
