Made of wood, this is the main means of transporting cargo and passengers in the Brazilian Amazon. It is also used for recreation and by fishermen to store and sell their catch at fairs in municipalities and capitals throughout the region. There are models and sizes for every purpose. Rivers are like roads in the Amazon, which is why boats are used by the vast majority of the population to travel to other parts of the region.
