MANAUS, BRAZIL - The Amazonas Public Security Department recorded the seizure of more than 42 kilograms of skunk marijuana on May 13. The drugs were found aboard a vessel during a river patrol operation carried out by the Military Police near the municipality of Coari, located 363 kilometers from Manaus.
According to police, the boat had departed from the port of Coari and was headed to the Amazonas state capital. During the inspection, officers used a trained sniffer dog, which alerted authorities to the presence of narcotics inside the cargo compartment.
The drugs were discovered inside boxes shipped as parcels. Police said the packages contained 45 bricks of narcotic substances.
The Amazonas Civil Police (PC-AM) has launched an investigation to identify those responsible for shipping the narcotics.
