There, the flames took over the vegetation, spreading smoke throughout the city of Cacoal, in the interior of Rondônia.
On the hill there are several TV, radio and internet transmission antennas that are important for the city.
The lack of rain culminating in dry weather helps the flames spread.
The fire area is located on the banks of the coffee highway.
The number of incidents continues to grow at an alarming rate. A recent survey showed that in July, the number of fire outbreaks is already 80% higher than the same period last year.
Given the seriousness of the situation, the Municipal Department of the Environment (Sema) is intensifying educational activities to raise awareness among the population about the dangers of fires.
The secretariat warns that anyone caught committing illegal fires may face a fine.
